What Makes Us Unique? We want to raise boys, not just cheer them on

Guiding Principles & Values of BoyWellness

Focused on Boys & Moms

BoyWellness invites everyone to be part of our community. Although our primary focus is on boys and their mothers, we welcome anyone to utilize our resources and participate in our initiatives. At BoyWellness, a boy is defined as any child for whom the term and parenting approach are suitable. Similarly, a mom is defined as anyone who chooses that title and commits to being present in a child's life as a "mom".

Why Ages 10 to 18

ree

Boys typically begin to experience puberty and the influence of social factors around age 10. It's also recognized that the strong bonds between boys and their mothers start to shift at this age. BoyWellness acknowledges this shift in relationships and aims to provide resources to support boys and their parents as they transition from boyhood to the tween years.

BoyWellness for What Kind of Kid

This is what sets BoyWellness apart. Founded by Stephanie Simpson, a mother of two distinctly different boys, one a starting high school quarterback and the other an introverted high schooler attending online school, BoyWellness provides tools that cater to both the popular kids and the quiet, neurodivergent ones. The effectiveness of BoyWellness lies in its foundation on scientific principles, valuing boys for who they are, and emphasizing the responsibility of mothers in their role.

BoyWellness: Our Uncompromising Stance on

Mental Health vs. Mental Wellness

ree

Mental Health: We discuss it with medical accuracy, using data and evidence-based research. We share hard-won practical experience navigating the complex system (yes, a decade in the trenches). We advocate fiercely for professional diagnosis and treatment. We destigmatize medication and therapy as the vital tools they are.

Mental Wellness: We absolutely promote it! We share peer-reviewed, medically supported strategies for building resilience, managing stress, and fostering emotional well-being in boys. BUT – and this is non-negotiable – we always differentiate it from clinical mental health. We embed clear guidance: "If you see X, Y, Z red flags, CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY."

BoyWellness will continue to add statements as needed to clarify our approach and stance. For questions or concerns about our position, please ask.
